What do you think? I bought a 69 roadrunner with 49, 000 original miles. The motor, tach, tires and rims and radio are not original, but everything is. Its in really nice shape. Its only got a drivers side door mirror and I want to add one to the passenger side door. I would buy factory stlye mirror just feel weird about drilling the door. What do you guys think? Would that adversely effect the overall originalety of the car or not a big deal. Its kinda hard to back up in my garage without it and I don't want to put a dent in it.

i thought about it a lot before adding one on my passenger side door. its entirely up to you.
you can see it in my avatar.
btw, my driver side is the remote type.

No. I Put a Year One mirror on, poor fit and it pitted in a few years. As a bonus, it is useless for lane changes. Don't drill holes in your car. Get well past whoever you are passing, signal, and check over your shoulder.

The tiny round driver side mirror is not much help either. But, it's better than nothing.

Have a look into installing a backup cam.

I too have consider a passenger side mirror but then while driving just take a quick look over my right shoulder and don't care anymore as I change lanes and mash the gas all mirror stuff is forgotten in about 2 seconds lol

Besides, our cars only came with one as part of the "poor mans" option if you want upgrades go buy a GTX. No go do some burn outs and forget about that mirror!

It think it depends on your reason for adding it. I got a really good quality one for my 65 Coronet 500 (not installed yet) because I prefer the look of a mirror on both sides, but as far as function I've been told they don't help much. If you do decide to do it just buy a good quality mirror.

I literally apologized to the car, and almost cried when I added the pass side rallye mirror to my 73 satellite.

The original base driver side mirror was about the size of a 50 cent piece- almost unuseable, and no pass mirror made changing lanes kind of a scary prospect.

I got a used set of rallye mirrors off ebay for $35.

I'll be putting a pass side mirror on my 66 as well. Already have an OEM one ready to go.

The recent availability of repro mirrors has made decent used OEM mirrors much easier to find and cheaper.

I remember about 20 years ago finding a pass side 66-70 mirror was like striking gold.

Yea, like Dennis says, get well past them before you change lanes. Just punch it, that's what the HP is for.
:3gears:

As for backing into the garage, either be careful or drive it in.
I considered putting one on mine, for about 5 minutes.

My 63 came with a passenger side mirror and I really don't use it. Just say no.

6. Satellite right-rear.jpgHad 2 brand-new double post for installation at the end of my resto--just couldn't bring myself to drill into the right door. Anyway, I'm SUPER cautious when I'm driving this one! In the end, it's your choice.

Since they are 'plain mirror glass' you see very little out of one. 'Objects will NOT be closer than they appear' and you will not get the 'extra vision' you are used to with modern cars.

I guess I'm in the minority. I added one to my '67 Camaro. I did it not only for me, but for when my teenage daughter drives the car (if she keeps a straight "A" report card, she gets to drive it). We use the mirror all of the time.....looks good too

I agree! Let her drive the Camaro, not your Mopar. (sorry, man...but you left that one W-I-D-E O-P-E-N!)

It's your car. Do you want a passenger side mirror? If the answer is yes, then add one. If the answer is no, then don't. It's not that difficult!

Who give's a crap what anyone else thinks?

Well at least we know nobody gives a crap what you think Satman.

You're right. No one has to give a crap about what I think. No one has to give a crap about what you, or anyone else think either.
That's the wonderful thing about internet forums; we can all put opinions forward and the OP's can take them as they will.

I'm sensing that you have an issue with my post, Runner68. I'm not sure why. Every reply on this thread put forth an opinion. Some for, some against.

You must be getting old dude. Just yanking your chain like I always have. If you were a fish you would be in the pan for dinner.

I put fourth my opinion, did you catch it above?

Remember opinions are like *&^%holes. Everyone has 1 and sometimes 2 if you don't agree with their first.
