I have a 70 satellite that I want to add ac back to, the car originally had ac from the factory, but everything has been removed, under the hood and under the dash. I am looking at adding a Clasic auto air kit, but they said I need the firewall plate for a non ac car, since my car is an ac car, I would have problems unless I change out that plate. Do anyone know if this plate is something that can be changed easily? If so do I need to start with junkyards, or does someone sell this part? Thanks.
David
its hot in florida!

Where in FL are you? If you are close you can check out my non a/c car or possibly another member's car I know that's on the west coast.

Personally, I'd try to replace all of the oem stuff with, well, oem stuff. Sourcing the parts is fairly easy for everything behind the dash. Out front, if you're not concerned with originality, use the aftermarket stuff.

I live in Ocala....I purchased a used box for under the dash but what I got looks more like a piece of junk than anything. The car is not original to say the least, different engine, different seats, different color, and I about to turn it into a Superbird Clone. I really just want it to have ac as I plan on driving it a lot. My next mopar may be more original, but my plans are to just build this one how I want it. I appreciate the info, and I will probably look at some cars this coming weekend at Garlits show to see what I am getting into with the AC.

I believe the "plate" they are talking about is not produced. I removed my AC components due to nonfunctioning equipment. I talked to them and the "plate" will have to be hand fabbed to cover the original AC holes. With their kit, a template is provided (if I remember right) and the holes are farther to the outside of the firewall. New holes drilled and then you have to come up with a "plate/cover". Or like you said, find an original non AC firewall and go to work. A plate may be easier- rolled polished aluminum? Stacey David made a plate for project Copperhead & it looked real nice. Hope this helps.

coming up with some type of plate is probably the way I will go. Thanks. Anyone have any recomendations or experience with Classic Auto air, vintage air, or Auto Ac solutions? Any suggestions??
Thanks.

There was a company called Hot Rod Air that had some pretty cool stuff at reasonable prices but I think they're gone.

Classic Auto Air. Tampa. Reliable and ice cold.
