We will be adding a Vintage AC system to the 69 Charger, and don’t want to just bolt vents under the dash. Car has a rally dash.

1) can you simply bolt an AC lower dash pad with AC vents in to the same dash frame, and plumb the hoses to it, or is the dash frame different behind the dash?

2) Who makes reproduction dash pads if it is a simple swap?

Car is in Wis, and I’ll be heading up from AZ to do the install in July, and don’t have anything to reference ahead of time. Thanks!

That is a tall order. I bought almost mint vents from this vendor at Spring Fling. Not new, not cheap, and not green. But he really has a horde of difficult to find parts. Darryl Finch.

Really? :BangHead:

Year One has NON-AC pads for $200... is the AC version gonna be hell to find?

And before I hunt down an albino unicorn, will it even work with a non-ac dash?

This is what I want, but with AC vents. They don’t list one.

The non A/C dash is different in the sense that the holes are not there. You could cut the holes in for all three vents but would need the three parts you show. I believe Vintage air makes a control switch assembly but not the factory spot coolers. I pretty sure no one is re-popping the A/C lower pads. I had to send mine to Just dashes for rebuild but they don't put the stitches back in and they do not fit as nice as the factory stuff does.

Could you post me a pic of your dash if you have one? I know the center vents under the radio would use this center pad... but what do the outer AC vents look like? Are they IN the dash, or UNDER the dash?

They are IN the dash. Cutting required. If you find some, remember that the 69's are heavier and the 70's (that look identical) are plastic and very light. My application is for a Coronet.

They are the two lower ones in your picture. They go in the lower corners on both sides.
Here are a couple pics of my 68 Charger. Like I said, I sent the dash pads to Just Dashes for restore but they don't put the stitching back in and they don't fit like factory ones did. You can see that when you look at the center spot cooler.

Got these 5 pieces for $400. When dash is redone, I will eliminate the under dash-vents supplied by Classic Auto Air.

The top left piece with "floor air" label worth messing with to get function?

Oh, I’ll have to look at the car to see if I want to cut into the dash... thought it was just the center one, and two outer ones BELOW the dash. Problem is the car is in Wisconsin, and I’m in AZ, so I have nothing to reference. Was hoping a couple bolt-on dash pieces would keep it looking original, but this might be a Pandora’s Box I don’t want to open. Lol.

Our dash is green, so this wouldn’t match. Was hoping for a quick solution but this sounds way more involved than I though to keep it “original” looking.
