What's everyone's opinion on a Innovate afr gauge vs. Autometer? Does the Innovate afr gauge require annual calibration? How accurate are they?
I've had the Autometer 3379 afr gauge for about 6 years. And about 3 months ago it would do its countdown like normal and then it would stay at 14.7 at idle, cruise and at wot. I've changed the o2 sensor still does the same thing. All the wiring is good.I have the Innovate gauge - I feel they are good. They are self calibrated quite easily and quickly. Procedure is in the instruction booklet.
A friend has the Autometer in his car also appears to work good.
Yeah, thinking it might be a bad gauge. That does sound like it is not working right.
I have no clue what could be wrong.
They say the autometer afr gauge is self calibrated.I would have to say Innovate. It is the only one I have owned though. I have owned it for 6 or 7 years but only fit it as a carburettor tuning tool.
It has been fitted to a number of cars and I have had zero issues.
Have you tried to calibrate the Autometer?
With the Innovate - how you calibrate and check operation.
Pull the sensor out of the exhaust pipe and leave hanging out in the atmosphere. Power the gauge up and you should get a reading of I think 25.4
Watch out because the sensor has a heater in it.
Cannot see why this would not work on your gauge.
I'll give it a shot, i also read where I can shoot brake cleaner on a rag and set the sensor in the rag and power it up to see if it goes rich. With the Innovate - how you calibrate and check operation.

I'll try your method firstJust watch that heater/rag in case of fire - that brake cleaner is very flammable.
I'll definitely let you knowCool let me know what happens. Steve
