As an Ebay seller for many years, I've watched as they've taken more and more and more of my money for their "fees" and commissions........Honestly, it almost doesn't pay to sell larger items there any more due to the big cuts they take, and then again if you use Paypal.

I recently sold a collector item for $4500.......after all the commissions and fees, they got me for over $480. total.

IF the guys and gals at the car enthusiast sites would UNIONIZE (and I use that term in a positive way), we could have another good alternative with such a site as Bidmotors.........BUT, you won't sell parts if you don't have enthusiasts LOOKING for them on the site.

I think it would need a well coordinated effort on the part of the Administrators of our major sites to actually make one of the alternatives WORK.

I'd support such an effort wholeheartedly. I'm sick of having to ask too much for stuff just to pay off the Ebay exec's.

Good to see competition for Evilbay;but...will Ebay allow it to live and thrive? I've heard of BidMotor before;really need to check it out. Maybe with our support,it can become a viable alternative.

PastorTom;you are right on about the fees and monopolizing of the pay system(notice how PayPal is "required"? Nice tie-in there...). I hesitate to purchase anything there,but sometimes you have to in order to acquire what you want or need. If Bidmotors can keep things on the up-and-up,and avoid the problems of Ebay,it can succeed. Let's hope!

I registered with them this morning. Not much listed there right now. I'll try and get some of the items I have laying around listed on BM in the coming days and see what happens. I would also love to find an alternative to Ebay.......
