Aluminum Dash

Does anyone know if the aluminum dash from Jegs will fit my 70 Roadrunner. My concern is the curve, if it us close or should I just fabricate my own? If anyone has pictures, I would love to see what yours looks like?

I put one in my Charger. It was definitely trim to fit in the front, and I had to fabricate mounting. All in all not terribly difficult.
I made a mistake by not buying the end caps. Sorry can't get pictures of it right now.

The stock dshes aren't very heavy. My bet there is better spots to save weight for similar cost.

Just as an example, like DVW said, the stock dash frames aren't that much heavy depending on year and models. The '65 dash frame bare is 17 Lbs. Chemically milled it is now 10 Lbs and fits right back where it was. All up to the beholder.

I took what I could out of my stock dash. None is seen once I put the dash pad on.

The original dash may not be that heavy, but the heater box and all of duct boxes, adds up. I have mine out right now as I am installing a cage. I want the minimal weight, and the minimal look. No dash pad, just the gauges. The dash side pieces cost just as much as the aluminum dash. I will get them if you think it is worth it. 6PKRTSE I like what you have done with your dash, that looks nice. I called Jegs just to find out these dashes are back ordered until the middle of March. There always seems to be something in the way of our build going smoothly, that we cannot control. I got an aluminum race seat and fabbed my own seat riser out of 1/4" steel, but it is way to heavy, so I am going to go purchase some aluminum and redo it. When I get my car back this weekend, I will take some pics and share here. Thank you for your input!

Nice job. However, I would definitely run a bar from that bend in your door bar down to the floor somewhere.

That console ways WAY more than the dash.

This is the latest. I will bend those tabs down and around the cage when I am finished putting the gauges in.

I made a pattern from the cardboard box the dash came in. I did not think it would work at first because there was so much to cut. I let a little extra when I eventually cut the aluminum from the pattern. It was the point of no return. Then I used tape to hold it in position while I made the final trim marks. I left those tabs on the ends so I can bend them down to cover the corners since I don’t have an aluminum welder. I will take care of that after I put the gauges in the dash.
