Anyone Installed American Powertrain 5 Speed for 66-70 B bodies

I've got all the parts to perform this swap . . .

but please beware that it took me over a year for AP to finally get most of the parts to me - I finally asked for a refund on the parts that I never received.

I've got a write up on my build of all the "fun" and "promises" that I'd heard form them -

including - since it took so long to get you the parts we're going to send you a Willwood master cylinder - Never got the master cylinder.

Oh - and I've changed plans and now ALSO have a 2012 Dodge Challenger 6-speed that will be going into my car instead of the Tremec . . .

Good luck ( is all I can say )

in my opinion those tremec 5spds aren't what a lot of people think they are.

5.0 Mustang ttanny behind a RB mopar ? I don't think so !!!
There is a Reason the 883 was bult so heavy !

I would think for 1500$ you are getting the install kit WITHOUT the trans. When I put a TKO600 in my Chevelle after everything was said and done I had close to 3800$ in it.Thats with me sourcing the clutch, bellhousing, crossmember and nuts and bolts ect. If I had it to do over would go with a Gear Vendors OD. FYI the TKO requires a revlimiter so when you miss the 2-3 shift you wont hurt the engine. You will miss it at high rev powershifting, again and again. Then you can send it to Liberty and have it faceplated and still miss 2-3. Not a well thought out design if you ask me. MY 2cents.

Get ahold of Passion performance. He has one of the best deals on a complete set up Plus he is a real good guy to deal with !

The description says Transmission sold separately.

From what I've read, a factory stock 340 could "sooner or later" spit that thing out in pieces

They suck in my opinion, shift like crap and nowhere close to a bolt in deal like advertised. The Passon 5 speed is the way to go for a bolt in overdrive but the T56 is the ******* hands down but requires allot of surgery. I had a TKO 600 and am now running a T56 so I know.

I concour with the 2-3 shift issues with the Tremec TKO. Got an early Keisler and was around $4500 with the bellhousing etc. At high rpm it will not go 2-3. On the highway cruising at 72 mph it is 2150 rpm with 3:54 Dana. Nice. My pal waited 5 YEARS for the Passon 5. And he was told 100 miles of break in per hundred horsepower. That's 700. NOT highway. I'm 62. 5 years for the trans then a year to break in?

X2 on Passon. I sourced most of the parts myself but bought my rebuilt 833 from Passon and he did the auto to 4 speed conversion for me in my 70 RR. Jamie is a straight shooter and very meticulous. I'm glad i had him do it.
