Did this get much coverage over there?

Back here in Oz, she's as popular as Dracula at the Blood bank and her days are numbered but she did at least give a good address and got a standing ovation, though you Yanks are a polite bunch and probably do that for everyone.

What really irks me is that she was there to mark the 60th anniversary of the ANZUS treaty, where our two countries agreed to be chums forever, however our boys were fighting and dieing side by side since 1917, which not too many people are aware of, but anyway, she made an effort.

We'll let you keep her if you like............

We will trade you Obama for her!!!!
I,d rather push my PLYMOUTh than drive a ford..

There is some coverage on CNN and Politico but not a lot.

there are some small towns here in Western Australia that she would need a
vest and a small army to leave in one piece.

But what about the US polititions that were crying after her speech

Weird

I like her alot. Shes good and takes no bullshit. Atleast you guys have a set of balls and say it like it is.

When I was there about 10 years ago, you were wondering what to do with the "boat people". Figure that out yet? I was there for 6 weeks that time on my Harley. The reason we went there was that you all spoke English, and you were the only ones that weren't burning our flag! I love it there. I might just retire there.

dont know about her honestly... we have so much **** going on here, i have no time to think of another crooked foreign politician when i have so many here to worry about

Don't know much about the politics in your country.....just now taking a good look at ours since I retired in 06 and I'm not liking what I'm learning about it. Why isn't she liked there? I'm with 1badgtx! I think the majority of the people that like Obama has no idea what his background is or what he really stands for....

In my view, Oz is much more liberal country in thoughts and beliefs. However, when I was there, I thought legally, it would be a bit faster and looser than here. Not true. I found it to be a bit more regulated in most ways. And not in other ways. Round here, we have zoning regulation that you cant have a bar within a 1/4 mile of a residential area, school, church, etc. There, you have the pub in the neighbourhood. Cuts down on "drink driving" [their term]. Here, bars are considered shady. There, they are thought of as a part of the community. Meeting places, and sponsors for all the tykes sports clubs.

She's unpopular for a lot of reasons;

Stabbed the previous PM in the back and stole his job (we hated him too),
Joined forces with the Greens (hippie tree huggers that want to enforce the right for gays to marry etc),
She wants to implement an emission trading scheme and charge us all to save the planet,
She's a lesbian man-hater who hates god.

I reckon that's enough.

I have travelled a bit in the US, we are a very similar people. Biggest differences I think is that Americans are more patriotic (I wish we were as patriotic), you will not just accept something that is bullsh*t and will do something about it whereas we will just sit on our hands.

We are the same when it comes to attitudes on 'illegals', we hate em and wish they'd come into the country via the system. Just as quick to pony up the troops when needed but different in that our population is not 'used' to war and somewhat scared of the consequences, hence why our efforts can sometimes be seen as token gestures.

If I was a Yank, I'd retire here if home held nothing for me but I could seriously see myself out on a farm in VA or Pensylvania, somewhere close to a civil war battlefield, with a barn full of Mopars. :)

I wouldnt care if she was a lesbian as long as she has a grasp on the country and not a bullshit artist like our terrific president which is a socialist.
I cant stand him and will not watch any of his speeches on tv.
Only problem with our country is that we became weak.
If we could take our country back. It would be the best place to live.
Right now, not so much.

Ya know, you just took all the fun out of thinking of a lesbian as a president.

The LGBT community is usually a very liberal group and are usually very socialistic. Yeah, I like to watch two women 'making out' just as much as the next man...but the reason for that is the male has hopes of getting in the middle of them and that won't happen between to true lesbians. Anyways, I really don't care to have them 'govern' me. Their values are way out in left field and they usually don't have any beliefs in Christianity and if they do belong to some kind of a church, it's a Unitarian church.....which is fine with me so long as they don't push their beliefs on me. Problem is, they DO try to push their beliefs on the ones that don't believe in their life style and have no problem breaking the laws (or the constitution) to get their agenda in place.

As long as they dont make it part of their polotics im okay with it. Just find it funny when they refer to their signifigant other as a life partner.

Nor would you want it to happen. Ever see the 'true' lesbians? Nothing like the ones you see in the porno flix or Girls Gone Wild videos. Most of 'em are, well, um, 'handsome'. Yeah, that would be the PC term for it.
