This is pretty amazing news. Early days yet obviously, but a non drug, non invasive, non damaging treatment using ultra sonic waves! Sounds great.

Yeah, I have heard a little something about this...
Promising?

I really hope so. Alzheimer disease is crushing for those with it and more importantly the family and friends around them. Could you imagine a practical, periodic treatment like this!? It would be like getting a tune up every 10 years or so. Blast out the brain and all your synapses start connecting again. Instantly getting your entire memory back.

The process of the disease is that it BLOCKS the connections between you and the memories. SO exactly like fog, you know it's there, you just cannot find it.

Seriously this could be huge for humanity.

My grandmother developed this disease and at first phased in and out of recognizing us, but eventually it took over and it was all over. And I know so many people who have had this impact their lives too. it is about time we beat it. My fingers are crossed.

I lost my Mom in January to this horrible disease. I pray that this treatment really works so no one else has to endure the agonizing slow decay of a loved one.

yes, my mom will say, "you never come to visit me"..........and I was there a day or two pervious..

she is just not "herself."

I'm not too familiar with the disease, so forgive the question as I don't know the answer.......how does it end a person's life? You hear my, fill in the blank, died from/of Alzheimer's. If it only effects memory, is it due to not eating and eventual starvation?

I'm not trying to dismiss how a person passed, just trying to understand how they died from it.

That is a fair question. But our brain also controls automatic functions as well. Swallowing will eventually fail for one critical function. Of course we can keep people alive after that happens. But complications will arise, heart attack, thrombosis, kidney failure etc. etc.

It is not a very graceful disease at the end.

My dad passed away from it in 2009.a heartbreaking disease glad to hear this news!!!

My mom has this horrible disease. Her doctor told us that in the end they eventually "forget" how to breathe.

I hope this works.

My Dad also died of Alzheimers, as did two of his siblings so its in the family. This is encouraging news.

I will add to this as we lost my wife's Mom to this in 2007. She had full blown alzheimers and the last year she lost the ability to recognize family, walk and feed herself. My Mom is currently on the downward spiral due to this nasty disease. She was diagnosed in 2004. She is now 90 and can still walk and perform some functions. She recognizes me from time to time..

Oh well, so it goes. I hope this research proves successful!!

That is one disease that scares the ever lovin' bahjeezus out of me. My Dad had an off shoot of the disease which was "Multi-Infarctual Dementia". Minny strokes that eventually let to a Major one in the end. Slowly he regressed backwards into his youth. We had a strained relationship but in the end we had a blast together because he was returning to being a kid again. But the 2 diseases just scare the "FOOK" out of me...Tuck

Me too Tuck!
Me too!
My cousin has it.

He and his wife were going out to dinner the other night...
She told me this:
He was actually dressed in her Pants and blouse!

That is for real!
All she said to him was: "Honey, please go back up and change"

At least he isn't belligerent..

So sorry for anyone who has lost someone to Alzheimer's OR their loved ones who have it.
