Just bought a car in northern Wisconsin and need it shipped to sw Florida.
I have always used Reliable Carriers (the big orange trucks) because they are the best, but also, often the priciest.
The quote I have from them is over $1900 for this trip.
I am trying to save a bit and am wondering if anyone has used any other enclosed carriers that they would highly recommend?

Ive used Alpine Auto Transporters.. not sure how much they would charge for an enclosed trailer but here is their number

888-444-0079

Is this a restored car, a driver, or a project? Reliable ships enclosed, only, I believe. We shipped a couple cars back and forth from Texas to Rhode Island on an open carrier for I believe around $700, but that was a couple years ago. We used Creative Rides Transport, but they are just 1 of about 100 brokers out there. Reliable uses their own fleet, whereas the brokers are basically For Hire, so you can get a better rate through them. Check out this website:

I used dependable auto service for 3 of my cars...You have to remember that most of the quotes that members are giving you are not up to date with the price of diesel fuel..I had a toyota landcruiser sent from coast to coast 4 years ago for 850 bucks...Now you can double that figure!!!Lots of luck!!!!!

Called Alpine, his quote was $2200!
I don't want to deal with a broker, they post your car up for bid on this website with an offered price and all the auto transporters log on to see what loads are out there to fill up their trucks, place a bid for the load and jam as many as they can on the trailer.
I had a bad experience shipping a Jeep from California to Florida a couple of years ago.
Anybody use Exotic Car Transport out of Orlando?

I have some friends that haul and the going rate, now, is just over $1.50 a mile.

Gas, insurance, plates, & maintenance for the shippers are high. Most runs they are gone for 3 or 4 days and clear less than $160.

Probably no help for you since they don't have an enclosed trailer for auto's; just an open single car hauler.

I'd stay away from the brokers. Chances are your car will sit for weeks before anyone will pick it up and you won't know anything about who is handling your car. Plus one driver may hand it off to another driver... and maybe more than once. I't the cheapest service and you get what you pay for. If I had a really rough car and no deadline I'd maybe go that way.

I recently got a quote from Reliable Carriers from Philly to Los Angeles for $1800 for enclosed transport. I know that is quite a bit higher now due to gas prices etc but they are top notch. About two years ago my Kansas to Los Angeles haul was only $1000 by them.

I've heard good things about Horseless Carriage transport too. I checked their quote and they were just about the same as reliable.

Try to stay away from blanket statements about brokers. I have shipped 5 cars in the past 6 years, all through brokers, and did not have a single problem. I've heard the same complaints about the big name carriers, too. There is always a chance of a problem no matter who you go through. You can pick and choose the service you want, depending on how much you want to spend. They have different options based on how quickly you want it picked up, whether or not it will be a direct ship, to depots, etc. The more flexible you are and the more time you have, the cheaper it will be. If you want to avoid going through a broker, that's fine, but expect to pay about twice as much. Owning/operating your own fleet costs a lot more than going through a broker. If you want enclosed, then your best bet is one that owns their own fleet.

You are 100% correct about how the brokers operate, so the higher your "bid", the sooner it will be picked up. The last guys I went through, they explained the whole operation to me, logged on to the board while I was on the phone with them, and they told me exactly how much I had to put in if I wanted it picked up on my schedule. It was picked up on the day specified, and it was actually delivered 2 days early.

thats the right price for that distance since diesel is $4.49 a gallon. trust me, i paid $1200.00 when fuel was $2.00 a gallon.my superbee car from wisconsin to New York. grab it and run its only gonna go up from here. it wont go down even if diesel comes down. The carrier companies have lost their balls since the fuel costs skyrocketed and tolls have almost doubled. it aint cheap anymore. I went to ohio and back with my enclosed trailer when diesel was $4.50 a gallon and it cost me $900.00 roundtrip just for fuel.

I had planned to bring my own trailer from Florida but decided against it at the last minute and drove up without it, as I didn't want to end up hauling it back empty in case I didn't like the car.
As it turned out I liked the car and bought it, so it will end up costing me only an additional $500-700 by having it trucked.....and no extra wear and tear on my equipment.

Try Wolfe Transport out of Sarasota Floida. They did me right going from Cleveland, Ohio to Cocoa, Florida. $ 1000.00 plus called me with updates the entire trip, was on time, car in perfect condition and on time, a little early actually. Scott Wolfe was the contact

There's a guy out of Indiana (ModTop Transport) that hauled a GTX for me from OK to PA a few years back. Real nice guy and a Mopar nut besides. Dodge dually, enclosed trailer, bonded, insured blah, blah, blah. Shoot him an email if you like.
