URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT (UPDATE)
Arizona Bill to Exempt Older Vehicles from Emissions Inspection Signed Into Law

Legislation to exempt all vehicles manufactured in the 1974 model year and earlier from the state's mandatory biennial emissions inspection program was signed into law by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer. Under previous law, only vehicles manufactured in 1966 and earlier and "collectibles" were exempt. The governor's signature acknowledges the relatively minimal environmental impact of older vehicles, such as the historic cars targeted for this exemption. These vehicles constitute a small portion of the vehicle fleet and are well-maintained and infrequently operated.

California has been like that for a while mow. Good to see AZ go the same way. But then they started making us smog diesel. No tests were done. It was just a pay us money deal. Hope it don't stick.

Ive been thinking about this all day, I think here in Pa we only have to have a visual check on all the things supposed to be in the car. They may have changed that i don't know but SEMA is working to help us as car enthusiasts, In case you don't know joining them makes there efforts stronger which really helps all this and much more. I thought it a good idea to mention it and its free to sign up...

NO safety inpections.

NO state income taxes.

It has always been a non issue here in AZ. for those that think outside of the box. The emissions testing is only in Maricopa & Pinal Counties (Phoenix ans Tucson) metro areas. So anyone that had an older car or one that had trouble meeting the emissions just got a PO box in another county and had the car registered in that location.
