B body Heater control cable damaged or has factory bend?

Project car (72 SSP) heater control cable (diverts air to the non A/C heater core) on the dash control end has a 90 degree bend. Is this the normal factory shape/orientation or is it supposed to be straight? Thank you.

When the valve is stuck, and then forced with the cable, this is the result. If you straighten it, it will bend again, or will break.

mostly sure you can get it straightened but weak on same spot and eventually will bend again untill breaks trying to get it straight again ( if not at the first time )

This cables are long enough to be reused cutting the cover the same lenght of the wire you cut ( to keep it the same exposed distance ). You can cut the cover on any end, make a new loop and done ( BTDT )

This is a non-AC car the cable moves a air door. No water valve.
