Back in high school, when I was 16 in 1978 and starting my senior year, I bought a 1971 yellow and black Dodge Charger R/T w/52,000 miles on it. It needed new points and plug wires. I got it for $1,700. I even met the original owner about 4 months after I bought the car, and he said it was his wife's car in that she used it all the time. A real grocery getter! To make a long story short, I sold it when I got a brand new 1979 R/T Aspen (ahem) and my parents said "I didn't need 2 cars". My best friend had a '70 Roadrunner w/383 and pistol grip 4 speed. This evening, he and I are going to drive 650 miles each way to pick up my Real V Code 440x6 pistol grip Dana 60 equipped '70 Roadrunner :) !! Although I was into tuning and even did a "clean up" rebuild of the 440 way back when, I know a lot of things have changed so I am appreciative of any help, tips, and suggestions that may come from my Mopar brethren. I'll check back later. MEEP MEEP !! Screenshot_2014-03-27-17-10-32-1.jpgScreenshot_2014-03-27-17-07-41-1.jpgScreenshot_2014-03-27-17-08-53-1.jpg

Welcome to FBBO, very cool 70 RR 440+6

Welcome. I'm drooling all over my keyboard because of your car photos. The '70 RR/GTX is one of my all-time faves, and the 440-6 4-speed is just that much more icing piled on the cake.

Nice!! Welcome from Maine!

Fantastic! My favorite car!

Please serve up some more pictures when you get it!

There is just sometin' about a yellow runner that turns my crank!

Welcome to FBBO and congratulations on you beautiful new Road Runner. Yes, a lot of things have changed since 1979, but a 70 or 71 B body is still the same now as it was back then, just a LOT more expensive. And don't apologize or feel oogie about buying an Aspen R/T, they've got as much right to be in the Mopar world as any other Dodge, Chrysler or Plymouth. In fact, they've got thier own set of fanboys just like B, E, and A bodies do.

Hi Biomedtechguy...welcome! Wow, great car. Even has the nice steering wheel. Great return to the b-body world. :)

Good year to have all around.. I try to balance between 67 and 75 to have the best of all the compatible parts.

Welcome to FBBO. I recognize that car from Fastlane over in St Charles, MO. Congrats on getting yourself a nice 70 RR

Welcome, beautiful car you got, love the color. I bought my 1970 440+6 4 speed GTX in 1979, my senior year in high school and still have it.

Thanks to all who replied. Its 3:20 a.m. Sunday morning and me and Pentastarnut should be at my house with the RR by 5:30 am. Recover then flog Sunday (just a little bit) It's going to need some parts, but is a real solid car. I'm happy so far. Thanks again!

A few more pix. I have to get some sleep. Pentastarnut and I drove up w/trailer and trailered it back. 9.5 hrs one way, so between the 20 hr. trip, getting up at 4:45 Friday for work, and 3.5 hrs. sleep since then, I need some down time.
