Had to get towed yesterday after pulling into a store to get suds. Come out and tried to start and got the old Click Click. Tried jumping, smacking starter with a SFH ect. Figured its gonna need a starter and was not looking foward to changing it with hedders. Hagerty tow to the house for free, Yippie. Got under the hood and did some testing this AM and found a 2 tenths of a volt drop differance between the relay and the starter stud. When cranking voltage at the starter drops to 3-4 volts. So I cut the cable end off the high dollar repo pos cable and put on a cheap end. Bingo started right up. So who in their right mind makes a battery cable of aluminum with a copper coating to fool you into thinking is a good unit. Freekin off shore junk. Time to make a custom cable and damm correctness. Rant over, time to cruise. Happy 4th to everyone.

There is very little the repop arena offers that is acceptable.....Sad it is 2018 and this is what we deal with....

I know someone that offers a better factory like cable than what your referring too....let me know if your int....shoot me a pm...

I went through the same things a few years back, luckily was in my driveway ! Cut off the pretty molded positive terminal, on went a $3 generic and been good ever since !

Every vehicle that I've ever junked or modified, Ive robbed any excess battery cables from. After 20+ years Ive accumulated a few dozen cables some of them from large diesel equippment are yards long.
Sometimes I need to modify or have a new end crimped on but I'm always glad that I never scrap battery cables.

You can’t trust anything anymore!! My trunk mounted battery is still going strong WITH my homemade cables after 30yrs.

Very true, but it ticks Me off when you pay for some thing that is represented as Concourse Correct and you get Crapola. On the bright side at least it wasnt in BFE Nevada on the way to Reno. I could have fixed it on the road as I am usually well prepared with tools and a DVOM. In town not so much.

I have wasted a lot of money on reproduction junk....you're speaking to the choir.....several times those parts put me walking and getting a trailer....

Sounds like it's time to bring back the days of " the good stuff " having a, made in the USA label !

Yep, been there and done that. Mine wouldn't even click, gave me fits until I did a voltage drop test on the positive cable. Replaced that with a do it yourself cable and bingo

Ran into the same issue with a repop cable for my 69 GTX. The car turned over slower than normal and the cable started to smoke. I gave it a tug and the cable pulled out. I tried to solder it back in but the terminal melted away...complete junk.
