Battery tray color

On a '71 RR. Was the battery tray body color or what?

I believe from other threads I've read about this it is suppoed to be body color.
When I did my resto on both cars and replaced the tray, I left it the black color it came. You can barely see it anyway. But if you want correct, I believe body color is the answer you are looking for.

All battery tray pieces are body color. They were installed when the car was painted at the factory.

All Pieces (tray, braces, bolts attaching tray & braces) were originally painted the same color as the engine bay (which was the same color as the car's body color). The pieces were installed prior to the car getting painted at the factory. Does that explain it better?
