That's some funny stuff. Seriously though, we go hiking/camping at Yosemite at least 2-3 times/year and we have had some encounters. We are especially careful in the Spring when the mothers are out with their new cubs. Although we always have our food, toothpaste/toiletries in the bear boxes, we have had some scary moments when they've pulled down and torn up sections of our tents. For the last xx amount of years, I have always taken a firearm with me (especially in the Spring and when out on overnight hikes) and hope I will never have to use it. You can get in to tons of trouble for shooting one of them but I would be standing in front of a judge telling my side of the story (and doing some time/paying a fine) instead of becoming a stat or worse yet, having something happen to one of my loved ones. That's not going to happen.
