Best/Rarest Part you found recently for your restoration.

I found an NOS rear view mirror mount for my '66 convertible on ebay. Paid $125 for it. It's a 1 year, convertible b-body only item.

Think I was looking at that and hemmed and hawed. Good score. Think it was the same guy that advertised a pair of "used" 66 headlight bezels but thought they were new. Got those, they were mint except 2 light 1/8 lines on lower half.

Just bought the bumper trim for my Big Bad Blue Javelin. Almost impossible to find.

Original, in the box, never used, Spark-o-Matic under dash 8-track tape deck. Just like I had back in the day. Now under dash of my current car. $10

It was a few years ago - it was a "buy it now", I had lost out on a nice used one and when I saw the NOS one I jumped on it.

I like to look for adds for other cars that are similar to mine and might use the same parts.

For an example, there was a guy advertising a set of factory hubcaps for a '62 880 Dodge. They are the same as the ones used on the '62 Polara 500 but no one was watching them. He stated that his grandfather had taken them off the car when he first bought it new and they have been hanging in his garage all this time. I bought them for half the money that they normally bring. No dents, no scratches.

Mislabeled or the seller doesn't know exactly what he has, can get you a good deal also. They're out there!

Gray Rock brake lining vintage decals/stickers for the Petty build. A guy was selling the decals in their original envelope (from the 60's) with a letter from the company thanking him for his interest in their product and request for the decals.

Or...an original Nichols Engineering NASCAR 426 hemi single 4bbl cowl air intake. It's not going on the car as we cut the firewall to accept a real NASCAR race used air intake but it's ~2" off in one direction so if anyone's interested it could be for sale

What do you know about Nicholas engineering and the numbering of their cars?

Mopar nats some years ago bought new in box pair of park light lenses for '63 Plymouth amber for $40. Later decided I wanted to stay with the clear lenses so popped 'em on Ebay auction for what I paid. The bids kept coming and sold em for 200. Also got a mint set of headrests for later B mopar for $25 on Ebay. Won't include the many times where I paid too much, but every so often come across a sweet deal.

I was able to buy a NOS flip top gas cap for my 67 GTX, and more recently a NOS hood molding... really nice items

New in the box Weiand 8009 440 Intake. I had it powder coated. It was sitting on a shelf at an auto parts store that was selling old inventory.

I finally talked my buddies Dad out of a magnesium 426 Hemi cross ram intake. They are a Chevy family. His Dad has had it since the 70's. Must be an old super stock trick but the whole underside of the intake has about 10 lbs of silicon underneath it to keep it insulated.

That's how I got my NOS Offenhauser RB 4 bolt valve covers a while back...

The guy mis-spelled Offenhauser and they popped in a search I did using a mis-spelling...

I haven't been looking for stuff as much lately...I do need to look for some period correct stuff for my 65 Coronet AWB car...

I think all the parts I scrounged for my 69 M-code barracuda where scarce-rare. Exhaust manifolds,13 miles on them, then put on shelf-$3500, 065 radiator-$1000 driver side engine mount-$375. Best find, complete correct kick down linkage-$5 but it was fun. Adult treasure hunting
