I'm looking for a big block short block. 383,400,440 it doesn't matter which. I am looking for something that is ready for final assembly, and a used short block is fine. I need something in the 9-10:1 compression ratio with my 85cc heads on it. It needs to be within 3.5 hours from Huntington, WV and I can spend no more than $1500. I know it's a long shot, but thank you for your time.

I have a bare, very clean 78 440 block with caps, maged and line bore check OK, PM me if your interested

I have a complete 69 440 that was taken out of a 69 Imperial in the early 90's. That was one of the factory steel crank, high compression 350 horse engines. The car had 77k miles on it and we drove it into the garage. We scrapped the car due to body damage and put the engine in the corner. I later planned to use it on a project, so I powerwashed it, put new gaskets on it and painted it orange.

At the time it was a running motor that didn't need rebuilt. It's been sitting in my garages for the last 20 plus years (I moved it from Delaware in 2001), it gets pulled out and turned over occasionally and it has never been run. It might could still run like it is but it would also be good for a rebuild. it has the good C body oil pan used for a body swaps and the desirable valve covers. My guess is that it has the 906 heads but I'd have to pull a VC. I offered it to a guy from FL last spring for $1500 and he wanted it but then kept stringing me along for the cash. I could bring it to Carlisle. It's dusty but I can email pics if you are interested.
