Can anyone tell me the differences in blocks with an ID casting indicated as "Industrial." There are a few casting series for the 361ci(2120229), 413ci(2658836), 426ci(2658836). Are these police, truck, or some other type engines? Most important, can they be swapped with a regular car engine? I'm wondering if there are accessory mounts, attachment, or special/unique parts for these engines that are incompatible with a non-industrial engine. Will the tranny bolt on correctly? Please HELP so I don't make a mistake!

The item I found is a 1960 361B engine reported as originally in a highway patrol car. The block cast number is 2120229. Is this correct that it is industrial...is this a problem???

I think the rear main crank register is different on industrial blocks. That said, why would you be interested in a 361?

It's a 361 Golden Commando. I thought I would be interesting to go with a GC instead of building my existing 361.

If it's an industrial block, it ain't a Golden Commando. Anyway, what I was gettin at is, nothing against a 361. Hell, I like um all. But piston selection for a build is limited to stock. Egge Machine is the only place I know to get them. 400 bucks is stupid for stock pistons.

Yes all three are casting numbers for industrial engines. 2120229 is a 1965 production. Most industial engines were for large trucks and stationary power plants like pumps and generators. Ususally had different heads with sodium filled valves for better cooling and thicker blocks for handeling continuous loads for long periods of time.
Hope this helps.
