There is a small tank of fresh water above the sink in the room Paladin (Have Gun Will Travel) is renting for the night. One tips the tank over toward the sink to fill the sink with water. I have never seen this arrangement before.

Hollywood trickery.

Then water dumps in yard when he's done with it i'm sure! There was a time when piping for convenience was in its infancy, and didnt really connect to plumbing systems.

I had family in a rural area outside Ft Collins Colorado that had a similar arrangement in their washroom... I say washroom cause the toilet was outside.... Water was pumped from a creek.... No hot water, no septic/sewer... Eventually they joined the modern world but not all poor folk are of any particular ethnic group....

Bring in buckets from the well.

Store in tank for use later.

Saves time.

Its still common to run gray water lines to daylight down hill away from the house in some areas. Gray water is mainly laundry and kitchen waste water it hurts nothing especially if you use the right soap and detergent.

Our washer dumps outside to the greenest tree we have.

Years ago some relatives' home ran the gray water outside. When it was time to go fishing get a pitchfork, wire it to the house cuurent with the fork stuck into the ground where the gray water dumped.
Up came the biggest nite crawlers ya ever saw.

That's awesome! The old man used to water the lawn (at night) for about 20 min. Boom! They'd come up
