I need some help with the ID on this block. It says 426 on the pad in the front with a V41 and hp and a few other numbers but the block casting numbers I looked up could be 413 or 426... what is it lol

V41 stamping should mean built for 1964, 413 engine. Casting could concievably end up a 413 or 426, but your seems to be stamped otherwise.

Agree, v41(3) should be a 64 413, and the font of the 426 stamp, isn't like any others that i have seen. Simple question, what is the bore size? 4 3/16, its a 413, anything less than 4.25, it's a 413. 4. 248, should be a .060 over 413, but real hard to tell from a standard bore 426.
Just my opinion, but i doubt it's a 426.
As an aside, and just for giggles, i stamped the number pad on my 440 in my 62, "413" . It's in the wrong font, just 413 is the wrong number for a sixty two, (it should be s41 ***) and the block has 440 cast into the side. It sure wont fool any mopar guys, It was just for the chevy guys, so i could yank their chain.

That's exactly why I questioned it.. the 426 looks weird. It's a standard bore for a 426 (4.25). Had my buddy check it.. it's a fairly fresh motor with standard pistons.. I got it cheap .with a real 426 block as well.
