I have been checking and I do not see that the brake pedal can be adjusted. Mine is about 1/2 way to the floor and I wanted to raise it up to at least 3/4 away from the floor.
Not sure why its so low. Been this way since I got the car. The brakes work fine, car stops, just not much of a range. All 4 drums ( power) have been adjusted. Maybe they came from the factory like this?

Before you adjust the height, make sure you're not bottoming (full stroke) on either the master cylinder or the vacuum booster. There is an adjustment by turning the end pintle on the vacuum booster that needs to be adhered to for a bit of free play between it and the master cylinder end that it fits into. You should check this gap - .050 is good. The next thing you should do is double check the fluid for air by rebleeding the system. If you really want to raise the pedal, purchase or make an adjustable pedal push rod. It is best to purchase one as the threads on the adjuster nut are both left and right hand with corresponding lock nuts. They're cheap and readily available. Most power brake systems of your cars era were meant to be "toed" without lifting your foot from the floor. This gave a nice transition from the gas pedal to the brake pedal while your foot remained planted on the floor. As far as travel goes before engagement of the brakes, this can be affected by poorly adjusted brakes, air in the brake lines, inproperly adjusted play between the booster and master, air in the master and worn swivel pins or bushings. As long as you aren't to the floor with the pedal at brake lock-up I say leave it as is.

what car are you working on? I recently installed a new and correct booster/MC from the ram man on my 68 hemi charger(power drums) and was shocked at how low the pedal was to the floor. The brake pedal is almost even with the gas pedal. I called for some tech advise and was told that was correct. I was also told if I didn't like it after a while I could swap out the link from the pedal to the booster for an E body IIRC for no charge. I haven't driven it yet to decide.

I'm having the opposite problem. The prior owner had upgraded to all wheel disc, and I just got the car drivable yesterday. I realized the brake pedal is way to high. The pedal setup only has on hole. I'm wondering if an adjustable rod would solve the problem. I'm not looking forward to having to drill a hole into the pedal assembly.

If your brakes are in good working order and you want to raise the pedal, get one of these...

I noticed my 67 Chargers brake pedal arm is not adjustable. Would this be good to lower the brake pedal? It looks like to me the original brake pedal hardware was probably used when the brakes were updated to power disc.

The brake light switch is hanging up the arm sometimes. Does it look like the manual brake setup was used on the power brake setup?
