Breather tube. Use or?

I ordered a black unsilenced air cleaner from Mancini racing. The black ones all come with the breather tube. Does it matter whether this is used or not or plugged up? One will eventually sit atop a stroked 383 (68 Charger) and the other a 360 in a 68 Barracuda, both street driven). Thanks in advance.

the original style got filtered air from the air cleaner through that tube.if you use filtered breathers you dont need to hook it up.never want dirty air going into your motor.

Thanks. I thought they went to the air breather cap dealy bob on the valve cover so, yeah, I can see why I wouldn't want that back in the carb. I can stick a small piece of rubber hose on it and block it off. Sure looks good to have a black air cleaner. Thanks for the answer. Do you have a 67 Coronet? I was at the junkyard, U-Wrench it, and they had a 66 Corornet that was smashed up pretty good. I was able to save a mirror, antenna, rear tail light assemblies, grill, and light buckets. I would have gotten the bumpers too if not for the wasps and people who kept asking to "borrow" my tools. I don't have a Coronet but, I figure if I have those parts, the rest of the car has got to follow sooner or later.

yes,my current project is a 67 coronet.its close to being done.avatar is a pic of the motor.i will be building the rear this week.457 gears on a spool with adjustable pinion and mopar perf springs.having fun with this one.

strangley i have found tons of people with nice cars never take them out of the garage.screw that!if it runs,i am driving the hell out of it!

The tube is on the outside of the filter element so really doesn't matter to the air cleaner if it is hooked up or not. It was connected to the breather cap to help provide positive crankcase ventilation. As long as you vent the crankcase some how.
