it was on one of the car shows, I don't remember which one
(might have been when Chad McQueen, Steves's actual son, was redoing his dads concept)

It'll sell for way more than a typical
390cid 4 speed 68 Mustang GT Sport Roof (fastback)
de-badged, removed the side markers
& pony in the grill etc.
& modified, to fit his (Steve McQueen's style) needs for the movie
tied sub-frame & skid bars for the jump scenes etc.
unless it's just a star car, only for close up shots

it should be interesting

I'm not much of a Mustang fan, but that car &
1st owner, iconic movie car, history etc.,
is something completely different altogether

I do like some very select 67 Shelby's or KR's,
69-70 Mach 1's 428 drag pack cars
69-70 Boss 302's & Boss 429's
(a select few newer specialty Shelby's/Cobra's drag cars)

the rest are just one of millions of Mustangs to me

Both of the early Mustang Fastbacks are beautiful.

As a little kid, I thought the Bullitt chase was incredible, but not always accurate. How could a Ford ever keep up with an R/T? Now I'm older and know. It depends on the build. The start of the chase is some of the best car movie stuff ever done.
At the local toy store Tub Track, I would imagine that my 68 and 69 Charger R/T Aurora HO slot cars were real Chargers as they came out of corners fishtailing and spinning the skinny tires. I bought Rewound motors which I thought of as Hemi motors. They cost as much as a whole Charger: $3.

A school friend from years gone by has a 68 Fastback exactly like the Bullit Mustang. He was given the car after his father passed away by his mother back in grade school . It looks as good now as it did back 40 plus years ago. His keepsake.

That is a pretty iconic car and will absolutely go for big bucks. At one point the car was stored in Morning View, KY. Right down the road from where I grew up. I may have driven by it and never known. Kind of cool to think about it tucked away in a garage all those years.

I wonder if he decided to sell it just to get some peace (and the money). It could be that after it got out that he had the car, he may have been barraged with people bugging him about selling it or just wanting to see it. Kind of like winning the lottery. Lots of people come out of the woodwork.
