Hey guys I just joined I've been on the A-body forum for a while now (name 'MOPEkidD-3')... I have a question about my cousin's project, we're swapping a 440 with 727 trans from his '72 Polara to a '71 Satellite which is originally a slant-6, 3-on-the-tree setup. His Polara has a really nice full 2.5" H-pipe exhaust system from TTI; would any parts of the exhaust fit in the Satellite? I know the headpipes would be totally different, we're planning on going to headers anyway. I've been comparing pictures from the TTI site between the B- and C-body systems and the only glaring issue I could see might be the curvature of the tailpipes as they go over the rear axle. Obviously the tailpipes will need to be shortened and we'll have to mock up the headers to see how they should connect to the mid-pipe assembly. This system is maybe 2 years old and we'd much rather use what we already have than go through the hassle of selling these parts and buying other ones...

C-body is typically longer and wider. I think your biggest issue would be where the exhaust crosses the torsion bar cross member. It is usually close to the trans mount on the B-body and farther out (closer to the outside frame rail) on the C-body. Except for that, it will probably be close enough that you can massage it to work. I am sure there will be places that interfere, but that is to be expected.
Me, personally, I hate exhaust work and would rather not try the swap. It will test your patience.

Thanks for the reply... I've done some exhaust work it is a pain but mostly just from having to crawl under the car with it not high up off the ground. I think if we cut it up into a few sections it wouldn't be too bad and we're gonna do all we can to get the car as high off the ground when we go to mock it up. I definitely noticed the part you mentioned about the t-bar crossmember I'm hoping I can get it to line up by cutting a section out of the pieces that go inwards toward the H-pipe. Milwaukee Sawzall makes it a lot more fun and fast too lol!
