Okay, ordered the cal tracs today, I do not expect a lot of problems installing them. now what are the options on shocks? will a set of standard 50/50 shocks work? I am going with 90/10's on the front(I think so far) the car is 64Belvedere 2dor sedan, race weight glass doors, fenders, bumpers, hood and deck lid. engine is a 509w/2x4s TR intake, small port victors, and a old(30+ yrs) .590 ps cam. TTI headers, 3800 turbo action, with 4.56 gear in a d60. What can I expect the car to do? it has always had a very straight launch, will there be any change with what it acts like off the line? big tire car,(32s) does cal trac cars have more of a tendency to stand up or less? well thats enough for now, the old car gets a little closer every day. another disadvantage going on now is that I have no idea what the car weighs at this point. have to wait till the roll bars are in. signing off for now, Dave.

Use their complete pkg, for best results.

You need a good 5.5 inches of front end travel. Good shocks. Pinion angle was also very important on my car.

Hemi Gts, do they seem to work better pinion up or pinion down? just a little or a lot? little being 1or 2, a lot being 5or6 degrees. as of now I do not have biased springs under the car, with the way the bars work I wouldn't think it would make a great deal of difference. I'll get out in the shop tomorrow and check front end travel to see if I have any. what about rear shocks? thanks for the info, Dave.

4 down works well for me. I run the ranchos Calvert sells. I struggled with my car for a bit at first but it's really nose heavy being an iron headed hemi. It worked well after I figured out what it liked.

I used the Calvert adjustable shocks alone with their mono-leaf springs. Like 68 Hemi GTS said, took awhile to get everything dialed in. Right spring is touching the front stop. Left is about 3/16" gapped. Shocks are set on #7.

Hemi G, mine is not as heavy as yours in the front, with the new engine combo the car sits about 2 inches higher than it did with the full cast iron set up that it replaced. based on your findings I will probably start at two down on the pinion and drop the front to get as much travel as possible, 90-10's on the front I suppose? bars will be here tomorrow or the next day and I'll get this show on the road. temp is to the point that I can get out in the shop now. Dave.
