I have a cam with an overlap of 12° at 50. Anyone have a formula to figure out the usually advertised degrees of overlap? It's a hughs cam.

On hft cams Hughes sells now add 47*

13 at .050" using the Hugh's chart. The 32is probably a seat number.

I'm using the Engle blue sheet and any Hugh's cam with an HE prefix is an Engle cam. I get 30.5 degrees on the at .008" and a minus 12.5 at .050".

Sometimes numbers may vary slightly between cam grinder and vendor; Engle is no exception to this.

The Engle’s grind would have (about) 8* more duration if you converted it’s seat specs from .008” to .006”. 9014 would run around 40* overlap at .006” tappet. For most the smaller Engle Mopar grinds add 52* to the .050” number gets you close to the more common .006” rating that most cam companies use. Makes the cams tough to compare when the seat ratings are from different bench marks.
