These are in my 71 satellite.I bought new seat covers and then found out the original ones used hard plastic backs so they wont work.Id love to figure out what these were originally in so I can get the correct covers

Thank you for the input but after looking into it I dont thing there Mustang.I contacted a couple Mopar parts places and they both seem to think there late 70's mopar of some sort but not sure from what

They sure look like the correct seat pattern for your 71. Is it possible they were reupholstered without the seat backs?

You know I thought the same thing but I dont think so and here is why.The seat brackets have been welded on and the original seats should have had s shaped springs where you sit and this is just a steel bucket with a foam insert. They sure are close, thats why I never noticed until I went to install the new seat coverings

Show us the release button and hinge.

Track pic might help too.

Here are some of the sides, there is no release on the back of the seats.Im afraid the track is been all cut and welded so that wouldnt offer much help

Does not look like a Mopar mechanism to me but there were some different looking C body seats IIRC.

Do they recline?

My bet is more modern.

Thats a good question I havent ever tried to recline them. Its a car I building so it hasnt had any road time yet.I was wondering if they were maybe AMC or something but after spending hours searcging pics on the web I cant find anything

should be that metal tag attached underneath to one of the springs...........

Are the bolts on the mechanism sae or metric? Lot of foreign cars used similar shaped high back buckets.

Certainly not a very attractive hinge set up but I guess thats just the era.I did uncover one today and the material was written won with sharpie marker " pass" so Im guessing that means passenger side and the factory wouldnt have done that so they were probably recovered by a upholsterer at some point.Perhaps someone did just do away with the plastic backs but that doesnt explain the Frankenstein brackets or the fact there just foam with solid metal bottoms. The 71/72 used springs

Not Mopar, that’s for sure.

Yeah probably not but I have had a few mopar guys say there late 70's mopar but who knows.I think Ill just keep searching for a set of the correct seats for the car.The more I look at the hinge mechanisms the more I dislike these seats anyways
