Can I Use A Newer Dana 60 In My 8 3/4???

Looking to upgrade the rearend on my Satellite. I've been reading how guys are using truck rear ends to build Dana 60's. Can I get some info from either someone who has done it or knows how to. I don't care about numbers matching for this one. Just need the right info in order to search out what I need from start to finish. Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Gonna do a 440 w/18 spline and Dana 60 on the Satellite. Money is not a concern, it's having the time to do it all.:thinker:

Im fitting one to my charger. I believe it was from a 98 ram. Something around that year. I got it for free. The axle tubes are bigger diameters. 3.5 inches i think. So depending on what rear you get, whatever brackets or mounts you need to weld to it may need slight modification. No big deal.

If money is not a concern and you're tight on time, why not just look for a Dana that's already set up or one that came out of a car? By the time to take a truck housing and get it shortened with new bearing housings, axles, brackets/spring pads, brakes etc, you'll have nearly the same money in it. And don't worry about factory axles not being strong enough because they are! But another alternative is to look for a '501' housing from a Ford light duty 3/4 ton. The tubes are smaller but are also strong and it's easier to fit brackets and spring pads to it.

Next question, anyone got a dana rearend ready to go and at a reasonable price?? Is the housing on newer dana's a different size than the 8 3/4?
