Motor up side burned out, ;probably from excess side loads on the driver side frame. So....if i disconnect the rams, can I easily lift the top to close, or will I need an actual normal strength human to help?
My manual (e-body) top was pretty easy. But the power top is a closed hydraulic system, and may be difficult to raise and lower unless the fluid can flow. As you suggest, if you disconnect the rams, you should find it's doable without considerable effort. Be careful not to let it drop at the rear, as you're opening it. Let her down gently. Take her to dinner, first.
Manual top E body uses a enclosed assist spring where the cylinder mounts for a power top.... With the cylinders disconnected the top will open/close with two people...
The cheap/easy fix is grab a top motor from a Lebaron convertible.... Course they aren't as common at pick n pull as they once were...
