Was thinking of making trip to Carlisle,pa was told it is a big car, swap show. Has anyone been there is it worth my 8 hour drive from Canada down, I was thinking of trailering my car until I get close and get motel room and drive my car the rest of the way, good idea or not? Is there any good deals on parts/tires etc there. Does anyone got a good web site with good infoon it, and are there motels other car guys stay at they would recomend, near by. Want to make sure my car is safe while I sleep. Any ideas on cost to get in etc Is there anyone else from Canada going down, maybe we could travel as a group.

I have been there twice and it is definately worth the trip. There are several motels close by that are good. I don't see anything wrong with trailering your car in. Not sure what the entry fee is if you bring your car in but i think the spectator gate is $15.

Lots of Canadians in the hotel we stayed in,rooms were reserved by Mopar Collector Guide magazine.

I plan on going, been there once before years ago for Chevy, now got A Mopar. A Few from Barrie are going

definitely worth the trip been going since the 90's .. spring show is great after a long winter but the Mopar show is the best for us ..hotels all over the place in Carlisle and surrounding area ..I usually stay outside of the town and get a better rate

As long as it's cloudy & 80, it's a great time. When it's bright sun & 105 degrees, like it was there this past July, it's not a good time at all.

Great Show! If you want a room you had better book NOW! I like the Hampton Inn, not cheap, but it's nice, clean and close to the fair grounds. If you book the show before Jan 2, there is a deal for only $44.00 (U.S.). It includes three days entry for your car and two people. You can book online @ http://www.carsatcarlisle.com click on Chrysler Nationals.

It's a 4000 mile round trip for me and have gone the last 9 years. Next biggest show to Carlisle is your Mopar Fest.

I plan on driving my 70 Cuda AAR, Just finished it in Sept, got a whole 150 miles on the odometer, the others that go , drive their cars as well, But this will be 1,st time at the Mopar event

Great Show! Weather sucks 99% of the time.

i went for the first time this year , i was excited to go until you get out there and the sun i litteraly cooking you alive. theres no shade and no were to hide. wish they would think about moving it to late summer early fall.

The last 2 years were really bad heat wise. Is usually nice. It's really big so lots of water and good walking shoes are a must.

When its hot it does suck, but overall, think Mecca. Its a must attend at least once kind of show. I love to be there as soon as the gates open, make my way over to the gate for the showfield and just watch car after car roll in. Its a religious experience.

Let me know when you are leaving and are you going to bring your cars or just going to look? Which is the better show the one in July or earlier?

The April event is mostly a swap meet with very few Mopar only vendors. A large car corral with lots of overpriced worn out cars.
If you want Mopar the only event to go to is the one in July. You are coming a long way so get there on Thursday and plan on staying through Sunday.Thursday evening has a large cruise in at the local Dodge dealer put on by the Mopar Rebellion car club. The swap meet is usually fully stocked by Friday so hit that all day, as most of the showfield doesn't roll in until Saturday. You can spend the whole day Saturday checking out the cars. Sunday most vendors are gone by noon and the awards parade starts shortly there after.

2 years ago it was nice temp wise on Friday as the +2.5" of rain kept the temps down. This year it was brutal with the heat.

The heat last summer really sucked, you can stay in harrisburg 20 mins away for 79.00 per night Well worth the trip I sold a nice pile of old hemi stuff that was collecting dust.

Its a great event. I've been there every year except for one, because of the heat, 1997 I think. Last year was brutal, but i'm glad a went!

Great show we go every year, lots to see show cars and swap meet, we go Thursday till Sunday

Question for "300"
Have you bought anything at this swap meet for your car and how where the prices any deals or are they all high priced for the show. Would there be any tires and rim deals at something like this ,I have never been to one of these, do you show your car when you are there , if so what do they charge to show your car?

Been going to Carlisle for over 20 years....have a spring and mopar spot. Can find better deals than the internet alot, plus You get to look the item over. If You need somthing and can't find it there, You're not looking hard enough. I stay in Harrisburg as the hotel rates are half what is at Carlisle or near..it's 23 miles on the interstate one way but to Me the cost savings are worth the miles.

in reference to finding parts, I'm talking about the mopar Carlisle...the spring is mopar "barren" for parts...as usual...mostly GM.....BUT...the car corral is much bigger...and a few mopars show up there
