So..I had this crazy idea today to put a 70 something challenger rallye hood on my 68 Coronet.
I had a 67 Plymouth satellite hood I used for the bracing frame. And a rallye hood I started to skin it with. Both hoods I had laying around and were not in good shape so don't worry I didn't cut up good parts. Check it out, I just what some input, rallye or 6-pack hood I had on it? Btw, the headlights are cut out to fit the 2012 challenger grill and headlights.

I think it's gonna be cool !!!

I can see the hood and fender accent line similarity that you may or may not be going after but I think it's gonna be cool if you can realize your vision

Like I said I wanna see it completed !

Yea the hood to fender body lines are spot on. The nose will need to be rounded to match the fenders. Front width needs sectioned, rear is close. I cut about 6" of the back end to fit. Its just a rough draft pic pretty much still trying to see if I like it. The front end is fiberglass and I like the 6-pack for the 440 I got, but now I want a 6.1 or 6.4 and since the 6-pack isn't functional really on that I was looking for something different. Thanks for the input, love or hate no offence taken.

looks like @$$...can appreciate the work/effort

Jury is still out, but I definitely commend you on your effort & ingenuity. Looking forward to the finished product.

Give it a shot, what the hell! You have two hoods that were sketchy to start with, condition-wise; so why not? You have a solid plan. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result. Best of luck on your modification!

If everyone listened to others about what to do or not to do, nothing would get done or get done in a timely fashion.

With that said, roll with it!

I love that you are attempting it. I also love that it is not MY car. I'm not in to it. But I agree with 5.7 Hemi says, it's your car at the end of the day.

I have seen some abortions, and that is not one of them. that just may turn out really nice. don't stop now , go for it. I would love to see it completed

Dare to be different! Too early to tell if I like it or not, but it has potential and I have definitely seen worse. :eusa_clap:

I've seen 70 Bee on 68 Bee, 73 RR on 72 RR, Challenger on 72 Charger and E Cuda on 65 Barracuda.

I liked them all.

I've got a 73 RR hood on a 72 Charger.

Not gonna make it work- too much for me- but it would look cool if I followed through.

I like it,a side pic would be nice. Looks better than the damn cowl thing I have on my car!

If you can keep the original front of the hood from the Coronet and blend it into the Challenger hood I think it would look great. Like the others have said though, it's too early to tell. I'm looking forward to seeing how it comes out.

TBM....that any connec to Grumman TBM? Ilike what You're coming out with, like one poster said, to graft the Coro leading edge. I'm 68 Coro fan myself, planning a project and i'm also considering a re skin....i'm not into the higher profile scoops, that looks good because the inlets are near level of fender decks. I want to do a RR/GTX scoop on a flat Coro hood....nice understated profile....You're the second project i've come across recently i'm sorta on same page with.....mold in Your scoop extensions. Do the dance Bro'...it'll look real.

TBM....is it a Post Coupe'...what trim?

TBM are just my initials. I do plan on having the front edge match the stock Coronets hood. I will make it out of flat 20ga sheet and graft to on. I am not cutting on my stock 68 RT hood that's for sure. The headlights are fitted and grille needs trimmed and mounted. But I can get a mock up pic soon. I am waiting on an electrician to add another 230v plug to the shop to plug in my new Lincoln 175 TIG to make the mounts out of aluminum. The car is a coupe no post RT clone originally a 318 car that was rusty so I don't feel bad about cutting it up.

I did find these pics of the front so you get an idea. I think the grille is killer

I admire your craftsmanship no matter how it ends up looking. Like the others, I'd be interested in seeing it after it's finished. I don't see any harm in it, and as others have said, it's your car to do with as you wish. It's fun to see something different - regardless of personal preference.
