Okay so i FINALLY got the charger running. open headers, hood still getting made by the fiberglass shop, but oh well. no attention from cops. anyways im running a pretty well built 318, cam headers intake carb...you know the works. its a bit slow off the line, about mid way through first gear is when it really kicks in. is there any way to improve off the line a little bit as far as tuning wise? carb? timing? any suggestions will be much appreciated. the 318s gotta hold up until i can afford the 440 swap. THANKS!:)

Open headers? I wouldn't do that for long. sucking cold air upon deceleration isn't good for Valves.

There's probably no real point in tuning it until the exhaust is in place, the different back pressure will change the signal at the carb.

thats pretty much the answer i was looking for, thanks!

yeaaaah i know i know. its got header glasspacks on it for now until i have the $ to spend on a new kit

318s are small motors so they can fall off pretty quick with the wrong changes. Degreeing the cam, type of intake, and gearing/torque converter will really make a difference in either direction.

Answer these questions for me;

What is the compression ratio?

What are the cam specs?

What intake and carb are you running?

What is the rear end ratio & tire size?

What is the stall on the converter or rated at?

What size exhaust pipe are you going to run?

Your answers dictate the answer your looking for.
