Charger Door Panels

I have a 1972 Charger that needs upper door panels, I bought a nice set at Carlise but they are about an inch or two shorter than what I have on the car.

I hear SE charger are different from a plain charger, is this true?
If so what are the differences? :angry9:

Would like to see this answer too, i need top panels also. For my rallye. I assume they would be same as a regular charger s.e's have a different quater window.

apparently there is a difference between standard charger door panels and SE charger door panels. there is an inch or so difference in height.
I need to know which one is which. the taller ones fit my car, but mine are trashed! the ones I got at carlisle are the shorter ones, I cant use them.
my car came with no emblems at all, so I don't know what I have. :eusa_think:

There is a difference. I have a '72 SE, and the door panels are different than others that I've seen at shows. If you're looking for difference in the SE and standard edition, the front and rear are places to look. The SE taillights typically have a silver edge around the lenses, and the front headlights are still hidden.

You can tell if your 72 Charger is an SE by the Vin number an SE is WP29 and a plain Charger or Rallye is WH23 or WL21 in the vin I have a few panels here i can check on for you PM me

The differance in the 71-72 and the 73-74 is in height not in any other way except style if you look at coupe verse se its in trim and detail same with rally the diff is in the years as per the size not in styles you must have got ones from the wrong year at Carlisle I saw a few sets marked wrong there but didn't try telling them so most people should know what they are off of but they get mixed up now and then I got my 71 it came with upper door panels from a 73 se they didn't fit they were to small for the doors bottoms are the same hope this helps a little I went out and found nice 72 se uppers for mine

Aren't the S.E.'s distinct from all the others ( having squared quarter windows)?

All (I know, I KNOW) 71 and all 72 except SE have the same quarter window.
72 SE has a one year only, one model only quarter window,rear panel, and sail panel.

The door panels in my 72 SE look exactly like the panels in my 73 SE and my 74 SE.
I have not tried swapping them yet. I was actually surprised to see that.

I do plan on trying a door swap, to put that question to rest as well.

72-74 SE VINs do begin with WP29.
