I recently purchased a 71 Charger. The previous owner put a new harness from American auto wire in it. I found out that the alternator wasn’t charging the battery so replaced it with a 3 wire alternator with no fix. Checked the voltage regulator and it checked bad so replaced that but still didn’t change. There is currently a ballast resistor but no wires connected to it. I found one wire from the new harness that connects to it but can’t find the other. An MSD blaster 2 ignition coil was installed and have heard mixed reviews on bypassing the resistor or not. Any help will be appreciated. New Mopar owner

If you check the below link.. this video is about the "Blaster 2" coil, the use of the ballast resistor is mentioned about half way thru.. Use of it depends on the rest of the components of the ignition system. Different coils require specific resistances for the ballast, one value does is not correct for all coils.
On your charging system.. the ballast resistor has nothing to do with the function of the alternator or charging system. Recommend getting a schematic for you car will be a big help. Did your charging system ever work properly ?
