I'd like to do some cheap fun racing. It doesn't have to be pretty, it doesn't have to be Mopar.

Do you have any ideas?

Buy a good pair of sneakers and try some X-country this Spring !

Had to, Sorry...

yes.
buy a junk chevy truck 2003 up 5.3 or Bigger.
these trucks are everywheres with broken/rotted frames or bad transmissions.
they also have some lovely rearend issues.
obviously you want to hear the motor before you buy.
take home, strip truck, cut off catalytic convertor, scrap remains after project is done, get money back.

yank the motor do a cam swap and and a few other items
around a 1000-1300 bucks and the motors done.
bam 400hp with an idle your grandmother could drive.
now pair it up with a good transmission,a nice rearend gear.
drop it into Any make model body of your choice and haul ***.
be different,pick something unusual.

i Am a mopar guy but im also a logical guy.
those chevys are cheap to build and they make great power.
interesting side note, the chevy ls head design is reported to be copied off the old buick 350 design.

heres an interesting breakdown on the ls series.
this guy really gets into explaining everything.
hope any of this helps

also,if you havent seen these guys, well, prepare to have your mind melted.
this was exactly what im talking about they pulled a bone stock truck motor threw some parts at it and bam running 400hp.
later on they do some really stupid and crazy turbo stuff to it.

Handicap racing means anything goes but It DOES have to be a Mopar. Any Mopar works.

Bracket racing wed. or mid week nights, somewhere in the nation

I won 3 trophies in my dads bone stock 73 Pinto 4 speed,
in the mid 70's, while still in HS
the car he used as his 'sales car/gas milage car' to go sell
Awning, Skirting & Decks, was far better than his F350 390 4speed flatbed
IIRC Pinto Ran/dialed in at like 18.00 IIRC @ like 79 mph,
leave at like 2000 rpm, shifting at 5k
just crossing the line shifting into 4th (wahoo)
it could run quicker but not consistently

way back when at Sacramento Raceway
drive from Georgetown to Sac. & back 70 miles each way
hauled me & 3 of my buds

I took my $350 68 Charger R/T, I worked a whole 1974 summer to buy,
down to Sac. Raceway a lot too,
it never won (in stock trim) like that ol' Pinto did :poke:

you do have to be consistent & repeatable, cut good lights, to win
you do not have to be fast
I had guys running mid 10's & 120+, flying by me
that I beat with that POS Pinto,
most would "break out" trying too run me down
because they sat at the line for 8 sec.'s waiting to leave
had a couple really close races at the stripe,
the little ol' POS Pinto still won

it's a whole lot more fun if it's fast,
but doesn't have to be fast or expensive

Bikes are way cheaper & serious fun too

Local dirt tracks. Penny stocks. Fun and cheap...

Whoops! You said drag racing. Sorry.

Until the tracks re-open, YellowBullet.com, lots of real and virtual racers. Doesn't cost a dime, and gets pretty dirty at times.

I'm bored at home.. I've watched some of this iRacing series on youtube and it's pretty good stuff. There some heavy duty young racers going at it. Don't think I want to get started at this time if my life, but if I'm home to long who knows, get me a set up y'all.
