'Chrome' paint

Can anyone recommend a decent chrome paint for the armrest bases? Just for a driver so I don't expect 100% shiny OEM but would like to bring them back to life, as opposed to what they look like now..thanks!

You may be able to get a wide enough tip with one of these. I used this to redo the instrument bezel surrounds. Extremely happy with the results compared to the aerosol I used prior.

Did they come chrome? I refinished my armrest and instrument cluster on my 65 Satellite and used SEM 15083 Silver spray paint. It looks great and matches everything else

They were most likely chrome when new.

None of the aerosol "chrome " paint looks like chrome. You might as well buy silver or aluminum paint because that's what it will look like. Spend the extra money and buy reproductions if you can. I got mine at Classic Industries and they were an exact match and the chrome is beautiful. It will be worth it in the long run. If you can't do that, maybe go ahead and spray them, but just don't expect them to look like chrome. They will look better, but nothing like chrome.

Yes they were originally bright and shiny...and yeah, I know most 'chrome' paint comes out metallic silver-looking but I was hoping there was one that's a little better than that. I don't expect to get OEM finish from a rattle can, just close enough..without forking over $100 for new pieces of plastic since my originals aren't cracked or anything. Thanks for the ideas guys!

Originally they were vacuum metalizing. Using aluminum powder. Seen videos on type of spray chrome.

I've had pretty good results with Kemkhrome from Thecoatingstore.com
You could read newsprint in the reflection. This is what I used - it has to be applied over hardened gloss black.

One thing I noticed with Molotow markers/paint is that you cannot touch it...ever. I did my rings around the gauge bezels and they look great but you probably cannot use it anywhere you will be touching. It dulls the finish if you do and the finish never really hardens like paint. Easy to touch up though on the dash area if needed.

That Easy Chrome looks like a winner for me on the rear bumper that I stretched 4 + inches. I can smooth it up with filler and prime and paint. Works for me! Thanks for the tip!!

If the bottom side is clean and shiny, I believe they are reversible.

There is young fellows hydro dipping parts . Fill plastic tub with water, spray paint into water dip part into water paint sticks to the part not the water... Wonder how that spray bomb chrome would work like that.?

Sometimes you take the right hand base flip it over and put it on left side. That's if bottom is any better.
I covered a pair with the sticky backed chrome plastic they sell. I did it one half lengthwise then other half. Whichever half is going to be the bottom start there.
