Chrome wrap bumpers

Has anyone tried "wrapping" 71-2 bumpers for driver /no trailer queen car? If so, results please.

The sum of my knowledge in this area is that the item being wrapped needs to be as smooth as a baby's ***. You will need a heat gun, patience and more than two hands. Watch lots of professionals in videos and sacrifice a section ,or four, of wrap for practice. Apply it, peel it off and do it again till your comfortable with the techniques needed to fill indents and cover protrusions, smooth curves etc. THEN, take on your prepared bumper. It's what I intend to do. After suffering through several window tinting disasters in the 1990's I decided to try it myself. Turns out it's simple if you follow the directions and use some common sense. Never had another issue with the stuff. I've seen wrap applied so many times, both on tv and video, and in person that I'm fairly sure I can handle it. And so can u. If the the boneheads and wastiods I see doing it professionally are any indication of the skill level involved anyway..lol.

Just guessing here but it would make sense to use the very best product you can get your hands on. It would apply easier and not rip as easy..as with all things, I'm pretty sure that all wraps are not created equally. I would even go so far as to find a shop that does it and ask if you can help, or hang around and watch.

The granular orange peel look to that chrome wrap is from the surface paint not having been blocked out after clear coating. The smoother the substrate the better the chrome will look.

Wrapping is not that hard once you get going and just have lots of patience and more patience and laughter really helps too.
Have a spare heat gun on hand as well. Anything on the surface of parts will show up underneath the wrap. IPA70 is one of your best friends.

This whole Challenger is wrapped, and it looked amazing. I think the owner told me it was under $2k. Definitely have to know how to apply it! The bumpers were chrome and not wrapped.

I have used Vivid wrap on my Charger and people think that it’s paint. Definitely cost effective......completed in my driveway.

A youngin that hangs out on cruise night gave me name of guy/business that does wraps: my car is painted; bumpers are decent "driver" quality, but usual "water marks" in lower inner corners, on a budget so thinking of having this guy do it and EVENTUALLY rechrome mine or find near OE aftermarkets: have seen thin, not to my liking aftermarkets out there, will need to look at AMDs when $$$$ allows. 64fury74charger, wrap looks good, bumpers are aftermarket or OE?

The bumpers on my Charger are still original chrome. Lots and lots and lots of cleaning, buffing, polishing then rinse and repeat. You should think about doing your own wrap. Get some vinyl wrap samples from Amazon and try laying down the vinyl on a table or toolbox or? Get a decent heat gun and some wrapping tools also on Amazon. If you mess up just peel off and do it again.
You can literally change your cars look any time and keeps the moisture off too. Great “raincoat....
