I can't believe its real is it??
take care

I'm not worried. And I don't care. I'm never buying a new vehicle. And I have enough big block engines squirrel away to last me till I kick the bucket. LOL!

It’s true. Get ready for your EV and when you punch it, it will go hmmmmmmm - until the batteries run down or blow up.

Kinda hate to see the Hell Cat engines go away but oh well. My last new vehicle I bought was a 2000 Durango with trailer tow package and 3.92 limited slip rear. The X burned it up just after it turned 20. She's pretty ruff on cars and that Durango stood up to her longer than anything else she ever had....

After experiencing the glory of the 60s and very early 70s muscle cars, as a 16 year old high school senior in 1978 and 1979, then selling my 71 Charger R/T 440 4bbl auto because my parents said "I didn't need 2 cars" and I lived under their roof, and my grandmother was kind enough to buy me a 1979 Aspen R/T that I special ordered, including the E58 "police" 360 4bbl, what I saw was the excruciating demise of the American performance automobiles, which continued for quite some time...
Look at the amazing accomplishments that the auto industry has made!
Much of the EV push is political and those mandates can change.
We would ALL be better served by the auto industry being more guided by free market (TRUE free market) capitalism and the manufacturer building what customers want vs what some pencil pushing wackos demand through regulations and mandates.
I'll leave it at that.
Let's hope performance survives.

Very well said Bio!
I’m just a little ways behind you guys, I’m a 75 model, known for poor performance, heavy emissions , weird designs and heavy rust. I wish I could have seen the muscle car hay days! The new ones did get interesting for awhile!

Only experience I have with EV's are golf carts (never played golf) and the utility carts at work. They sucked when someone forgot to plug them in over night and the long wait times for them to charge but they used wet cell batteries and you could at least do a quick and fairly easy swap to get them going again. Down side to those was the corrosion they generated.

I was right smack in the middle of it all. Turned 16 in 1967 and was attracted to cars at a very early age. Problem was my dad tried to keep that to a minimum.....then Uncle Sam interrupted things just when I started making good money in 71 after moving away from dad's heavy hand in mid 69. But maybe he saved me from becoming a Ford guy after I found an early 50's Ford 2dr sedan with a running V8 flatty for 50 bucks. He said he "wasn't going to have no junkers sitting in front of my house"! lol. Thing is this car was straight with no rust and was still one solid color.

The simple truth is internal combustion technologies were on their way out anyways. At least as the primary transportation mobility option. EV is more efficient. With superior performance. The push to reduce man made atmospheric emissions only accelerated this industry transformation. The next generation of solid state battery technologies will enable a personal conveyance vehicle hundreds of miles on a single charge. A charge that will only take minutes to complete. (Probably closer to 30 min.) At about 10% the energy cost. (Although? I believe they will find a way to make more from the consumer. Once they figure out "How") Trucking industry is next. And eventually heavy equipment operations.

I fully understand that "Truth" hurts. Everyone always longs for days past. A past that is familiar. But that doesn't mean we are to be blind to the future? I for one is excited to see some of this newer technology.

.

The “truth” is they will have all the charm of a Kitchen Aid dishwasher. And a lot of people will be fine with that. Just look at all the same looking little SUV’s or Toyota Camrys.

I ain’t one of ‘em.:D

I agree. But vehicle design has been declining for decades. It turns out efficiency is not very eye appealing. Aerodynamics suggests that "Egg shape" is the most efficient design to cut thru air. That's not a lot work with for curb appeal.

The bigger picture is they don’t want you to have any transportation that you can climb in and go anyplace you want to at anytime you want. The price to operate an maintain an Ev Plus the charging problem when that’s all that’s available and nobody can charge one up will keep you at Home. They want you dependent on them and the social programs.

VW, Toyota, and Tesla have been outspoken that the US power grid won’t support these EV cars.

They have the younger generation convinced and now they don’t want to drive or go to work. Just hang out in the parents basement. All these new apartments with no parking lots of streets to park on.

so what to do? For a start, Don’t buy one, ever! new or used. Don’t put any money or support to that leg of the transportation industry.

And if they really cared about the environment they would include ALL the pollution and $$ costs of producing, charging, maintaining, and disposing of an EV car. Because all of that is real and they just dismiss it as nothing.

you are going to charge this car with a coal fired power plant? Genius at work? Or fools in charge?

I'm not sure how or where to reply? You made accusations of other people. I have 4 kids. Of that age. And I know no kid that wants to live with parents? And no idea who "They" are? But as far as power grid? It is true that the current grid is not able to accommodate a complete replacement of gas vehicles with EV. Certainly not during peak hours. But you are referring to a sudden replacement. It's going to take time. Time that will allow for upgrades to the grid. (That the infrastructure bill is addressing.) Let alone the impact residential solar electric generation will have on energy supply/demand.

We are in exciting times. If we can get this freaking pandemic under control? ALL technology changes in history had naysayers. But I think we need that? We need points of view to debate and refine efforts to be even more productive. Another words? It's all good.

Since you’re so excited, you should sell your gas cars now.

I'm certain the EV is coming, not exactly what I like but it's coming.
The completely un-answered question is where do the electrons come from?? The coal power plants will be gone, same with natural gas plants. Nuke plants have been banned for many decades.
Guess we're depending on solar panels (oh, where do those panels come from), or windmills to feed the grid. Anybody willing to bet their paycheck on that success?

Actually I will be down sizing. (Due to age as much as anything.) But from a business point of view? Now is a great time? Selling high? (But of course trying to predict any market has always proven choppy waters.)

If you don’t know who they are then think it over a bit more. Sorry to group all kids in the same group. That’s not fair. No offense to you and your kids.

The EV companies are making progress with the EV cars. They will keep on the task. It will improve.

But for the powers that be to proclaim ALL new cars will be EV by a certain date is not what USA is all about.

The cars will be as reliable as the government and China made stuff ... I call BS on this political movement because someones butt says made in China!

lets just keep in mind the colder regions, where if the power goes out you DIE.
and whats the actual range and tolerance of these so called miracle batteries again?
