Thats been on My CL for a long time now.

I'd love too have that! But not at that kind of price!

Thats the one with the TRI-Y exh manifolds. I am guessing they were put on as I did not think any left the factory with them. From what I had heard the sanction racing bodies decided to let them use headers so Mopar dropped the TRI-Y before they got into production since lightweight tubbing headers were going to be allowed. Apparently headers were not allowed the year before so Mopar was going to release these better breathing TRI-Y manifolds but they are heavy. Ron

Seller paid around $15K for those exhaust manifolds. I guess he wants all his money back and then some... and no, they're not original to the car.

The way the seller states that "this was the only Max Wedge that had the TRI-Y installed" and is documented by GG, sounds like a factory install?

It is a nice piece of history! Wish I still had my '64 Polara 500, black on black :(

Not a factory install, just a craftily worded add... the car is real, the manifolds added a couple years ago. Car NEVER came with those manifolds.

He ran it through Meccum in Harrisburg two years ago, I think it did in the $80's
64 Post is correct they were added long after the car was new.
Documented by GG doesn't mean that much any more, like it did in the past.
It's been on Harrisburg Craig's for years. There are two others on the list that are priced out of line 69RR and another Mopar, from Newville Pa. The guy puts them on almost every day.

I did not think any left the factory with them from what I had heard also. I do know they had to bang the passenger side inner wheelwell some to make them fit on the passenger side. I guess the factory got as far as trail fitting some since they did make some. But I have no idea how many sets Mopar made ? Ron

I remember seeing a Mopar ad in Post or Look magazine in 1964 which showed those exhaust manifolds mounted on an engine..........................MO

Real sleeper with those white walls, but it must be LOUD! The race readies are capped off, but what kind of mufflers are those in pic#18?!

A very nice car...and a lot of dollars...but still a very nice car.

"....This vehicle features the extremely rare TRI-Y exhaust and is the only Max Wedge known to have them installed. These manifolds are like finding a unicorn. If you were to find a set for sale (which you won't) you would expect to pay 20k for them. This car has been verified correct by Galen Govier......"

At no point in this advert does the seller state that the Tri-Y headers are original to the car or factory fitted. States that the headers are "featured" which is way different to being original.
Just like in 1988 when I stumbled upon a NOS Rallye steering wheel for my '70 Roadrunner....didn't come with the car originally, but it was correct, and therefore I could call it period correct, but not factory original.
