Cleaning gauge faces

trying to bring back the black on my instrument cluster .. Talked to a guy's aid use rubbing alcohol now I have whit splotches on the black . Any ideas guys ?

the white lettering gets somewhat chalky and alcohol just smears it all over. Try cleaning them with mild detergent and water. At this point it may be easier to apply the new decals if they are available the ones by just dashes are spot on
and easy to apply.
