What's the best way to clean the bell housing? I sprayed it with degreaser and then took a pressure washer to it and it really didn't do much. I then took a wire brush to the inside and the oil and gunk would just clog up my wire brush.

Any suggestions?

Sandblast, or take to a machine shop to wash and glass bead. I do this all the time for customers.

If you are glogging up a wire brush, then the gunk will come off. You just need to put in the work. I would recommend:
- A good cleaner (like Purple Power)
- A good parts cleaning brush
- Some elbow grease (okay...a lot of elbow grease)
- A good amount of patients.

Cleaning parts is rarely as easy as a 'spray on-hose off' evolution.

Your pressure washer must be pretty weak kneed to not blow off the buildup. My small one puts out 2750 PSI and will cut that sort of stuff without much problem and without using solvent or soap. Just got to get close to it. Wear a face shield and a slicker suit because it will get all over you.

Thanks Cranky, my pressure washer is rated for 2700 PSI and I was up close to it. After putting some degreaser on it the pressure washer helped but I think I was just hoping the process would go a little faster.

I used greaser and glass bead blasted.
