Hey Fellas,

Having trouble figuring this one out and looking for suggestions.

I re-used my existing centreforce clutch with the motor swap this year. The disc looked a little rough (the usual spider cracks) so opted to swap out the disc for an identical new one.

The over centre spring is removed and here's the problem. All the action of the clutch engaging seems to be at the very top (let's say 20%) of travel. and in that top spot I also notice the clutch is giving me more resistance (almost pushing up harder)

The geometry in linkage seem fine...

Thanks in advance for the help,

Mike

No smart *** intended, but you did adjust your clutch and disc is not turned around?..........................................MO

I didn't personally do the work but the guy who did knows what he's doing so I'm going to guess those options are possible but highly unlikely

Not sure about your car but the over center spring helps you push on the clutch as well as returns the pedal when you go over center
I would re install spring then try

Thanks bm02tj, I should mention the over center spring was previously removed (in fact hasn't been on in the years I've owned the car) I could try installing an Over Centre Spring I guess and see if it makes for a better feel?

YEP. with a Borg&beck or Long style you need the over center spring. Diaphram you don't .

Is this where I'm wrong? I thought my centreforce would be a diaphragm clutch? this is a learning curve for me though so all information is a huge help.

Again I'm confident the guy doing the work knows what he's doing but there has to be something we're missing

You should have about 1- 1 1/2" free play in your pedal, If you don't , better check the clutch adjustment. If there have bee some miles since the clutch was installed, the clutch disc might be seating in and need adjusting....................MO
