Anybody ever hear of a cold weather block ? Was talking to a guy about an engine & he mentioned it. I never heard/read about that one. Anybody else ever hear of such ?

Other than the addition of block heaters, no.

Found out......
that there are earlier castings which are thicker. On FABO, I saw a post which referenced those blocks & the nickname "cold weather blocks". Had never heard of that before.

if talking about 440's the cold weather block i think they also called it the water block it was thicker in some place and had bigger holes for coolant in the head area they were made from 75-78 o to 440source.com and read about them.
