Correct position of driver's side remote mirror...

I have a 64 Polara coupe that has in the recent past had the holes welded up for the driver's side remote mirror. Could somebody give me some measurements, or a photo of the position of their driver's side remote mirror please?

Wasn´t it supposed to be a tappered reinforcement plate underneath welded to the metal sheet for mirror attach? Were there also some vehicles built with o/s mirror delete option?
