Cutting the Hood

For those of you that have installed the WO23 hood scoops
Where did you cut the hood?
is it enough to cut the triangular section out of the hood?
or does the hole need to be a little farther back and cut part of the brace?

The Templates I have seen are for a Hemi with dual carbs and the hole seems much bigger than what I think I need. I have a single carb 850 and will run a carb pan to seal the hole

Mine is not cut, just the holes for attachment.

How ever you cut it, remember, the engine does not sit dead center.

Put a marker of some sort in carb stud holes to mark hood. Make the marker as short as possible. This isn't a 100% accurate because as hood goes down it goes toward back car. Maybe remove carbs and make fixture that will mark the center of the carbs on the hood when it's almost closed.

Yep put a long aircleaner stud in it and close the hood..
Ta da.. instant center. Draw the circle around it,, bigger than the aircleaner.
Cut.
Done.

I am considering doing just that
However all the years of trying to avoid this makes me squeamish lol

With around a 16" hole we did cut into the rear box and the pass side stiffener. I'll probably put some seam sealer on the narrow gap and fit in a piece on the rear gap to box it in.

The car is home
We ended up doing it like Don Frelier
a 16 inch hole clears the 14 inch air cleaner
also am adding a 1" spacer and a 3" tall filter
I have yet to build an air pan but it will be coming along soon

Mine is in storage for winter I have the same scoop from Larry.
I plan to bring the hood and scoop over in the spring.
Keep us posted on your air cleaner arrangement.
