Why is my dash cap cracking at the same stop as the crack under it?how can it stop it?help

What is this on? I would think the crack that's underneath is getting worse and is putting pressure on the cap. Is this on an E body? Did you trim the sides of the crack away before putting the cap on?

71 rr and no but the crack almost made alway down the dash.

I have heard that if you don't follow the instructions and over do applying adhesive, the cap can crack from expansion.

I hope it doesnt get worse.just noticed it yesterday.If it does. does the cap come off easy?
