Is it possible to replace the dash speaker without removing the entire dash? I have the instrument cluster out but can't see a way in from where I am.

A/C car damn near impossible.

Well that falls right in line with the rest of my issues. Lol. It does need a dash pad...I guess those will be next years project list.
Have you removed the top plate to see if it is mounted from the top?
I removed the 3 screws in speaker screen on top of the dash. The plate itself doesn't lift? Are there more screws?

There are two screws in each defroster vent.
I realize a 72 Charger is only a cousin to a 72 Coronet, but they might be similar for speaker mounting. My speaker grill came off from the inside, and the speaker mounted from the top. I replaced that speaker with a metal template cut out for 3.5" speakers. I installed a couple of Infinity drivers, powered by a modern stereo.
If you're using the original radio you have to match the replacement speaker's impedence to your unit. If using a modern radio you can upgrade to the modern speakers. It was a bit of monkey business to get it all squared away but in the end it was well worth it - the sound is fantastic. Mine is a non-A/C car but going in through the top would not have been an issue if it was.

Wow!! That's a wild build! I am still waiting on a ujoints for my 1/4in drive ratchet so I can get to the bolts on both sides. 3/8s stuff I had I couldn't maneuver with my big hands and windshield. I found a modern retro style with modern speakers I'm going to try. Project has turned into everything at once rather than one thing at a time it seems. Thank you for the pics and suggestions!
