I'm looking to brighten up the lighting from the instrument cluster with LED lights. I would like the brightness to be that of a modern car but not so bright as to be an arcade. When I used the bulb finder at https://www.superbrightleds.com/ the brightness, measured in lumens, ranges from 5 to 350.

Anyone have advice as to what brightness is appropriate for an instrument cluster?

200 to 250 would be the proper brightness considering LED's give off a whiter illumination than incandescent bulbs that are somewhat dull and yellowish. Some LED bulbs are actually colored giving more options. Be sure to check the overall height of the bulb before purchasing and check to see if you have colored or frosted hoods attached to the back plate of the gauge pod ( where the bulbs insert ) as this may limit the length of LED bulb you can use.
