I think he made a lot of enemies by ripping people off, by selling broken/defective "NEW IN BOX "products, with no warranty.
I was born in 1980, so I was a young lad when Crazy Eddie ran those commercials, and even though we drove by the store every time we went to Middletown, I can not recall ever shopping there. (all my friends had the yellow crazy eddie velcro wallet, I wanted one to!!!)
I have heard many stories about his unscrupulous business dealings, and possible criminal ties.
When he went out of business, I heard everything from he was taken on a boat ride, way out to sea, shot and dumped overboard, to he took all his money and fled the USA.
I think the real story is he is/was sent to jail for tax evasion.
The commercials were great, at least to a young lad, but I guess Crazy Eddie was his stage name, D%ck Head Eddie may have been more appropriate, according to the rumors.

Hmm...I've written tons of stuff over the years, newsletters for clients, a few published in trade magazines, never thought about expanding aside from a novel I wrote and two other tech books. Now that I'm 90% retired soon to be 100% should do more writing and hope to have ads pop up for Viagra, Depends, and anti-wrinkle creams...

The same site that said that these cars are worthless now, just posted an article on the 10 coolest Oldsmobile cars,and the picture they posted with the article is a Buick Gran Sport! A bunch of real hardcore muscle car guys there!
